online casino was the biggest money maker for the online gambling
company PartyGaming, which showed a 61% increase in profits in 2008.
The online gambling firm published its annual report, showing an
increase of over 60% in profits in the last year, following some
cost-cutting measures, although the revenue of the popular online
casino website was down a percentage point. Unfortunately for stock
holders of the internet gambling site, the online casino may still
be facing legal action from the U.S. authorities for its involvement
in the country's online gambling market prior to the 2006
anti-internet gambling bill. PartyGaming was one of the most popular
places on the internet for online gambling activities in the US in
the past, especially its poker room and online casino. Shares of the
gambling firm have dropped more than 5% despite the profitable
report, mostly on fear of legal action by the United States
government.
